I have a friend who goes to the gym daily. This guy seriously works out, spends hours at the gym per week. You’d think this guy lived there if you didn’t know he had an apartment. It was hard not to admire the fact that he was so dedicated to his routine. He had a lot of time, considering he was not married, he didn’t have any kids, and his focus was the gym. But all the work he put into the gym, and wouldn’t you know it…his heart was in pretty bad shape. The culprit? His diet was the WORST!

Exercise is great, but the heavy lifting in a healthy lifestyle is done in the kitchen. All the workouts in the world will not erase all the grease, fats, and cholesterol you pour into your body. That is why Momentum believes in a balanced healthy lifestyle. Exercise paired with a proper diet of all the right foods can really carry you to success.

Making Healthy Recipes

A common misconception is that healthy recipes are expensive, or complicated. In our experience, it’s quite the opposite. Now, if you’re not used to cooking healthy recipes, then there’s a small learning curve, but it’s one that can easily be overcome. Trust me, your body will thank you for it.

Shrimp and Broccoli Stir Fry
This dish is an amazing mix of flavors and freshness. No one said healthy recipes had to taste bland and look boring. Pick up your favorite shrimp (you could even substitute chicken breast if you’re not a fan of shrimp), and some fresh broccoli and get to it. Once you get a hang of it, toss in some other vegetables. No need to order from your favorite Chinese restaurant after this, because you’ll have a dish that healthier, tastier, and more fun to make.

Barbecue-Rubbed Pork Chops
Yep! You read that right, this CAN be a healthy meal. A rub works so much better than lathering up your meat in a sweet sauce can really be a killer on your body. In this way you preserve the barbecue flavor you love, but you also preserve the flavor of the meat. Pair this with some oven roasted vegetables and you’ve got a combo you want to make over and over again.

Marinara Sauce Over Rotini
Despite what you might think, you can still eat pasta and not feel like you need to roll out the door. Pick up a fresh marinara, or make it yourself, and season it up! Pasta may not be everyone’s first choice, but consider this. Nowadays you can find all types of pasta such as whole-wheat pasta, and even some gluten free varieties. Made right, this little number is the perfect dish for a healthy body!
