Momentum’s own John Malfer joined the UT Health San Antonio Department of Physical Therapy for their Project Hispaniola once again in 2023. Project Hispaniola had the opportunity to work with patients in the Batay 105 community in the Dominican Republic this year.

John has worked on this project with UT Health professor and TPTA President, Mike Geelhoed for the past few years. PT was asked to join in Project Hispaniola for the very first time in 2017. During that first year, the team provided medical and PT care to sugarcane plantation workers. When they returned in 2018, the team was able to treat over 40 patients with their combined efforts.

During their time in the Dominican Republic this year, the team once again treated dozens of patients, including some of the youngest members of the community. Their few day clinic made a tremendous impact on this community, and we want to applaud everyone involved!
