Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS)

An Orthopedic Clinical Specialist is a physical therapist who specializes in the treatment of musculoskeletal or orthopedic conditions and have demonstrated their ability to provide specialized care to people with bone fractures, abnormalities of the skeletal system and other orthopedic problems. After meeting specific experience requirements, a PT may take the OCS exam through APTA. The exam covers two parts: the practice dimensions, professional responsibilities, and the knowledge areas and procedures. The OCS distinction has been established through the APTA and the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS).
