Journey to PT

My Interest in Physical Therapy started at a fairly young age. My younger brother was born with
special needs and would have a Physical Therapist come by the house twice a week to work
with him. I remember watching what they were doing and being fascinated by the concept of
helping people through exercise. Then, when I was in high school, I participated in many sports,
including: football, baseball, track, cross country, and golf. I saw many of my teammates attend
Physical Therapy following major injuries and then return to sport even better than they were
before. I wanted to be able to help others the same way one day, so I started my journey by
attending Sam Houston State University for Kinesiology. This would help open the door for my
first job as a Physical Therapy Technician at the clinic across the street from the University. That
job helped me to get hands on experience and solidified my love for the profession. I would later
be accepted into University of The Incarnate Word School for Physical Therapy, where I would
build my clinical knowledge and skills to best help my patients.

Commitment Towards Clinical Excellence

During my time at University of the Incarnate Word, I would come to learn that I really enjoyed
reading the most up to date research on every topic that we covered. I found it fascinating how
treatment strategies and approaches changed as new information was discovered. I have also
had the pleasure to work with many great Physical Therapists that all had very unique treatment
styles from one another. I decided that I wanted to make sure I learned as many of these
different treatment philosophies, and keep up with the most up to date information in order
provide the best possible outcomes for my patients.

Giving Back to the Community

Helping others has always been a priority in my life. I especially like to help others impacted by
Autism or other special needs. Since my youngest brother was diagnosed with Autism, there is
and always will be a special place in my heart for helping the individuals and the families that
are going through the same struggles my family has been through. I have volunteered at the
Special Olympics, a Night to Shine, and many other organizations dedicated to providing
individuals with special needs the same opportunities as everyone else.
