About

FOUNDATION OF CLINICAL EXCELLENCE

I have been a Physical Therapist since 1977 and have had some great experiences with my mentor, Dr. David Green. He is an international authority on hand surgery and inspired me to pursue specialization in hand therapy. I have focused on hand therapy since 1980 and became the first Physical Therapist (PT) / Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) in San Antonio in 2001. I have remained a hand therapy specialist since then and continued to hone my skills and clinical expertise. All of my previous experiences have made me the person and therapist I am today and I am proud to be a part of the Momentum Physical Therapy family.

FINDING THE SOURCE OF THE HAND INJURY OR PROBLEM

I consider myself very fortunate to be a Physical Therapist and specialist in hand and upper extremity therapy. Early in my career, I realized the hand is a vital organ which not only allows us to perform the most basic human functions, but also allows us to pursue our work, interests and play. My main focus is to identify the source of symptoms, ensure each patient achieves optimal hand function and meets their own therapy goals. My experience has included hand therapy and rehabilitation for the newborn infant with congenital problems, amputations and crush injuries, athletic injuries, joint reconstruction and replacements, fractures, tendon rehabilitation from sprains and strains, and many other diagnoses involving the wrist and elbow.

GIVING BACK TO MY COMMUNITY AND PROFESSION

I feel that giving back to the community and profession are largely important. Upon appointment by then Governor George Bush, I had the privilege of serving on the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for 7 years. I have also enjoyed being a clinical instructor for many physical therapy students from several physical therapy programs, have lectured on topics related to hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, have published research articles in the Journal of Hand Therapy and also authored a chapter in
“Rehabilitation of the Hand.”
