BACKGROUND

My passion for physical fitness and the process of getting the body prepared to perform at the highest levels needed for competitive sports. This is when I became aware of the field of Physical Therapy and the multitude of benefits it supplies to not only athletes but anyone that has an ailment that is impacting their life. Through numerous hours of observation and working as a technician in different settings, the benefits that Physical Therapy could have on the community amazed me.

EDUCATION

Growing up around the San Antonio Medical Center, I always knew I wanted to get involved in the medical field. While attending Central Catholic High School, I had the opportunity to observe and follow a Physical Therapist. This experience sparked my interest and caused me to continue to shadow and observe throughout my undergraduate career at St. Mary’s University. I then applied to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. After completing my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree, I decided to continue my life-long learning through the OPTIM Manual Therapy program with the goal and completing the fellowship in the manual therapy program. Jumping into this fellowship program so early in my career is my effort to further develop my skills to provide the most up to date and evidence based treatment.

SERVING THE COMMUNITY

Having grown up in San Antonio, it is very important to me to be able to give back to the community that has given so much to me. I have had the privilege of volunteering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, San Antonio Food Bank, San Antonio Youth Literacy, and St. Mary’s University Alumni Association, and Oyster Bake Community. Being a part of the field of Physical Therapy allows me to continue to give back and grow as a member of this great city and am excited to continue to fi nd opportunities to continue to give back.
