"Occupational Therapy addresses the very activities of daily living that make our lives meaningful; the restoration of one’s hands is the connection point in fulfilling our roles, responsibilities, and recreation. "

Stephanie Musselman

I have been an Occupational Therapist since 1998, becoming a therapist after going through years of hand therapy myself as a child and teen. Experiencing how my therapists helped me return to my life as a student, an athlete and a musician inspired me to lead and walk alongside others on the journey of upper extremity rehabilitation. I now understand that my early challenges shaped and called me to this profession.

I became a CHT in 2009, having first worked in both inpatient and outpatient therapy settings. My life as a military spouse has enabled me to travel the country and work with physicians specializing in orthopedics, plastic surgery, neurology, as well as occupational health and family practice. I’ve been blessed in every state to treat clients from all walks of life, but fondly remember the staunch New England farmers, the rodeo ropers, the rugged crab fishermen, the Italian home chefs, the Native
sealskin seamstresses, and the overhead throwing athletes. Along the way, I have also had the opportunity to teach occupational therapy at the community college, undergraduate and graduate level in Connecticut, North Dakota, and Alaska, focusing on kinesiology, splinting, and physical agent modalities.

The therapist adage that “anatomy is power!” is my paradigm for every therapy session, and I strive to educate my clients in understanding their diagnoses, their bodies, and their path to improvement. Because “therapy works when you do it,” designing home programs that are relative and meaningful are as important as the hands-on techniques I perform in the clinic. I look forward to bringing this attitude to San Antonio, and I am excited to help as many people as I can and experience all that South Texas has to offer!
