Natalie Sosebee

My interest in the medical field began at an early age, learning from my grandfather’s stories as an orthopedic surgeon. Like many in the profession, I received quite a bit of physical therapy during my formative years as a result of sports and other injuries. As a result of my early education and personal experience, it was no surprise that physical therapy became the stand out choice for me. I have always found great fulfillment in helping people in a hands-on and direct way, as well as being a resource for friends, family, and my community.

As a kid, I was fascinated by my dad’s ability to fix things around the house. He was very patient in explaining the problem solving process and encouraging me to be creative in my solutions. I continue to follow this approach in my work as a Physical Therapist. The body is a complex, fascinating and ever-adaptable machine with levers, hinges, sockets, and pulleys that require a knowledgeable mechanic and creative problem solving to get it back to working well. I love finding ways to help people accomplish their goals and feel empowered to overcome their limitations. My goal is to not only help my clients resolve pain and improve their physical abilities, but to send them out with the knowledge needed to continue improving and to help others along the way.

When most people think of physical therapy, the image of the orthopedic specialist comes to mind. However, Physical Therapists also work extensively with neurological diagnoses as well. I love working with this population and have had a great time helping out with the Special Olympics, Brain Injury Adventure Camp, and the United Cerebral Palsy Association. It has been my privilege to work with the San Antonio Amputee Foundation and to serve on the team to develop specialized subacute programs for Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury at HealthSouth RIOSA.
