CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY

Research studies have consistently shown that positive care interactions improve patient outcomes. Simply stated, if you like where you go for care, you tend to feel better. That being the case, I make sure to treat each patient like a friend or family member. Attention to detail in patient comfort during their treatment, along with positive and friendly communication, helps everyone. I feel that a patient’s perception is often their reality, so I try to make it a pleasant one!

A PASSION FOR PAIN

As funny as it sounds, as a physical therapist, I love pain! I love the simple, scientific clarity that comes from the recognition of a protective reflex that has developed in all living beings. Hunger and pain are both feelings which are survival instincts. These two instincts are vital to our lives and should not be feared. Just as we do not fear the feeling of hunger, we should not fear the feeling of pain. The lack of understanding pain often leads to fear. This may be true as your mind can jump from “will I ever get better” to “I need to be careful or the pain will get worse.” Through education and understanding the normalcy of pain in response to injury or adaptation, we are more apt to overcome it. Having a long and intimate experience of pain on a personal level, combined with decades of caring for and treating people in pain, I have developed a keen interest in the science behind this mysterious sensation. I continually strive to share everything I have learned with patients and colleagues.

SERVICE IN MY COMMUNITY

Giving back each day is the greatest way to show my gratitude for the opportunities I have received. I enjoy volunteering in youth sports with my daughters’ swim team. Guest lectures at area physical therapy school along with clinical education experiences with students, residents, and volunteers help keep each day fresh and interesting. Giving back to the local community is something I feel strongly about and enjoy doing on a regular basis.
