In fact, we have more certified manual therapists on our staff than any other physical therapy clinic in the area! This means our therapists are able to use highly specialized, hands-on techniques to help get you out of pain and back to the activities you love.

Manual Therapy Conditions

Some of the conditions we treat with advanced manual therapy techniques include:

  • Back & neck pain
  • Knee, ankle & leg pain
  • Arm, shoulder & hand pain
  • Headaches
  • Degenerative disc problems
  • Repetitive-movement pain

Manual Therapy Methods

Rather than using machines or devices, manual physical therapists use their hands. There are two major groups of manual therapy techniques – soft tissue work and mobilization/manipulation.

Soft Tissue Work – Including but not limited to massage, soft tissue work helps muscles relax, improves circulation, relieves pain, and breaks up scar tissue.

Mobilization/Manipulation – Speed, force, and distance are the three factors at play in this method that focuses on correctly positioning the bones and joints. Patients can experience looser tissue, pain reduction and improved flexibility and alignment.

Joints that can be helped by advanced manual therapy include:

  • Hip
  • Spine
  • Wrist/Hand
  • Lumbar
  • Elbow
  • Cervical
  • Shoulder
  • Extremities
  • Foot/Ankle
  • Knee
